Our new home has so many little projects that need to be tackled and we are slowly but surely getting them done. My husband has been super busy on this project. It is a second "pantry" in the kitchen and it's crazy how excited I was over it. The perfect place to store all the kitchen crap that doesn't fit in cabinets and that clutters up the counters. He bought the wood, cut it, painted it, then put the shelves up this past week and we are both so happy with how it turned out. So good for my OCD, Type-A, organization-loving personality!

We bought a swing set! And I couldn't be more excited!! #adulting But honestly we have been waiting for the day when we would move into a bigger house and finally feel like we could put "roots" down. We decided to buy a kit which includes all the parts as well as sturdy, treated wood that will hold up over time. Now we just have to find the time to build it...

I consider myself pretty frugal but I do not mind splurging on having professional pictures taken. I absolutely love looking through old pictures and there is nothing more priceless than capturing special moments that you can look back on for years to come. Hiring Carley Page Photography to capture some family pictures before Vivi's first birthday party was the best decision ever. As moms we are rarely in front of the camera. I have 4959730948 pictures of Vivi with her dada and hardly any of me and her because I'm always the one snapping away. I want her to have pictures of her parents to look back on in 30 years so that she can make fun of our style and see how much we loved her. These two people are my world and I think these pictures show it.

Easter weekend at the beach

Better late than never, right? I was on call all weekend so I have no fun weekend recap so I thought I'd recap our Easter weekend at the beach if for no other reason than for my own memory. Every year my whole family heads to the beach for Easter weekend and it is one of my favorite traditions. Garrett didn't have to work Friday which was a special treat. We packed up and hit the road at nap time and headed straight to the aquarium. I have been before but it was Vivi's first time and she absolutely loved it. She literally squealed at the top of her lungs walking around the entire place. We left with season passes so that we can go as much as we want all summer long!

 Saturday morning was the Easter egg hunt in Beaufort. It is always the cutest event and they do such a good job of making sure all the kids get eggs. Vivi was more interested in picking up rocks than eggs but we finally convinced her to throw a few in her basket and we ended the morning with a cupcake... success all around!

 It was still pretty chilly at the beach but we spent nap time letting our neglected furry child run all her energy out in her very favorite place. I swear she would run on the beach until she died if we let her.

 Sunday morning we woke up to find that the Easter bunny had come! Holidays are so much more fun with kids. Vivi was still too young to "get it" but she loved going through her basket and stealing all of her cousins' new toys. The Easter bunny brought her this sprinkler, this toddler utensil set, egg sidewalk chalk, tub water coloring tablets, and these silver glitter Natives.

 We planned to go to the sunrise service but both myself and Vivi woke up with bad colds and it was freezing outside so we played hooky. We cooked a big delicious breakfast of cinnamon roll French toast casserole, bacon, eggs, bagels, fruit and cranberry cream cheese bread. Garrett headed home early afternoon but me, my mom and Vivi stuck around for another night. We spent the afternoon on the beach and Vivi could not understand why I wouldn't let her dive face first into the ocean... that girl is fearless and she is going to keep us on our toes this summer.

It's easy to get caught up in the eggs and bunnies and forget that true meaning of Easter. I pray that Vivi knows that she has a savior who died for her sins and that He is alive in her today. He is risen indeed!

Weekending late!

I hope everyone had a great Easter!! Before I recap Easter weekend, I need to recap last weekend. I am playing catch up because life has been so busy!!

Last Friday morning I took Vivi to fun gym for the first time. I used to take my niece all the time so it was super fun finally having my own baby to take. A gymnastics gym opens their doors for children ages 0-5 and it's only $4 an hour. Vivi had the best time walking around, "jumping" on the trampoline, going down the jump bounce slides, and exploring. We will definitely be going every Friday we are in town!

Friday afternoon we made the hour trip to my in-laws for the weekend. I always love going to the farm for the weekend.. it's so relaxing and I we can disconnect and spend so much time outside. Vivi loves the horses and cows and we had so many Easter egg hunts around the backyard.

 Sunday my in-law's church had lunch and an egg hunt. Vivi even got to meet the Easter bunny for the first time! I was expecting tears but we got nothing but smiles. It was priceless! You known Vivi had to have a southern smocked dress for the occasion and her adorable lamb dress is from Pleats and Stitches. I love finding small businesses to support and this was no exception. I was super impressed with the quality and the prices on their smocked outfits are much cheaper than other places!
