My favorite things link-up!

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Let's get this straight, I would NEVER ask for all of these gifts! To be honest, I don't really need anything for Christmas. I would be perfectly content opening one present and giving presents to all my family. There is nothing better than giving someone the perfect gift and watching their reaction and happiness. However, these are a few things I would be super happy with if Santa placed them under our tree ;)

christmas wish list

1. Tory Burch clutch. I have this beauty in black and I use it all.the.time. Totally worth the money. It has a long strap so you can wear it as a cross-body bag or you can take the strap off and use it as a clutch. I would LOVE a brown/tan one!

2. Nespresso coffee & expresso maker. Hubs and I are coffee lovers snobs and we have been talking about getting one of these for a while. The second my alarm goes off in the morning I head straight for the coffee maker. I feel like this expresso maker might make me a more happy person in the morning ;) Has anyone tried one?! Is it worth the money??

3. Kendra Scott earrings. As I mentioned in a previous post, I got a pair of these in hot pink a few months back and got SO many compliments on them. I am dying for another pair!

4. Kate Spade watch. I really need a neutral, everyday watch to wear during clinicals next year. I'm thinking this one would be perfect!

5. Moscow Mule Copper Mugs. I had my first Moscow Mule in Charleston a few months ago and fell in love. These mugs are so fun and can be used for so many different, fun cocktails.

6. Kendra Scott Rayne necklace. May or may not be obsessed with this jewelry [obviously]. I want a necklace too!! It would go with EVERYTHING!

7. Clarisonic skin cleanser. I have heard amazing things and to be honest, I need to take better care of my skin. All I do is wash my face 2x a day and apply Oil of Olay lotion. I feel like I need to clean it better. Any advice about this product?!

8. Gold Aviator Tory Burch sunglasses. I only buy one nice pair of sunglasses every 2 or 3 years and it's about time for a new pair! I have never had aviators but always love them when I see them on other people.

What are you hoping Santa brings you this year?!

Accent chair

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Happy hump day!!

We have been making progress in our house, slowly but surely. The next purchase we are making is an accept chair for our living room. We don't have a huge space, but adding a chair with a small table beside it will make this room feel so much more complete. Our living room is tan, navy, and mustard. As much as I love neutrals and would love for our whole house to be creams and browns, I made myself step out of my comfort zone in this room.

I am leaning towards navy for the accent chair, but I also think mustard would look amazing. I have found tan chairs that I looove but I think in the long run I will regret going neutral. All of these are from either One King's Lane or Pier I. Of course my favorites are waaaaay out of our budget [go figure]. What furniture stores do you shop at? Any good online stores that I may be able to find a nice chair for a good deal?!

Oh hey Friday, home decorating edition!

Friday, September 5, 2014

Happy Friday loves! As I have said many times before, furnishing a new house is EXPENSIVE! Since we moved into our new house right after we got married we have been purchasing furniture and decorating little by little. All summer I was itching to get curtains for our bedroom and dining room. We finally decided to pull the trigger on this costly project [hubs might not let me do anymore decorating for another year after that bill...]!

Due to my lack of time we had a family friend interior decorator help with fabric choices. She gave me a few options and I chose the final product. Sooo I guess I can't take total credit for how great they look? I am so happy with how they turned out! They make our house look even more "complete" and "homey". Check out before and after pics:

Bar cart

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Since hubs and I moved into a brand new house right after we got married, we have been buying furniture slowly over the last 8 months to fill our new home. And let me tell you, this is no cheap project. Since I'm in school and we are living on one income, it obviously isn't possible for us to buy everything at once. We finally had curtains made for our dining room and bedroom about a month ago and they are getting installed today! So excited! [pictures to come!]

I have been eye-ing bar carts for a few weeks now and think this may be the next item I pull the trigger on. In my dream home I would have some sort of built-in bar in my massive kitchen [dream on]. Until then, a bar cart will suffice ;) I definitely want gold, which will match perfectly with some other furniture in our dining room. These are my top 2 choices:

And I would style it something like this:

Do you have a bar cart? What stores should I be looking for the best deals?!

Mother's Day

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I don't know about you, but my mom deserves more than just 1 day a year. She does everything for me and my sisters. She is supermom. Every mom deserves to be spoiled every now and then! Here are some ideas of what to get her for Mother's Day this year:

mothers day
1. All ladies love/need a good statement necklace. My family loooves necklaces. We are always borrowing each others! Mom would love this one!

2. Cute little plaque for a nook in the house. I love that quote.

3. You can't go wrong with anything from Tory Burch. These sandals are the cutest with summer right around the corner.

4. This TB hand-held wallet would be perfect for going out to dinner. The perfect size for your  phone and card/cash.

5. A delicious candle. I am literally a candle freak. Especially Anthropologie candles. Holy cow we have like 10 in our house. Not only do they smell amazing but they look gorgeous. Any lady would love this nice candle as a gift!

6. A new beach umbrella! Since we basically live at the beach all summer, our umbrellas get rusty and worn down.

7. An adorable coffee mug. If your mom is anything like mine [and me], a day doesn't begin until coffee is in hand. And a cute mug just starts your day on a happy note! Anthropologie has SO many cute ones to choose from.

Furniture make-over!

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Right when we moved into our new house mom asked us if we would be interested in HER mom's old dining room table and chairs. Of course I would be! My Mama died when I was 11 and I miss her every day, so to have something of hers in my house would be so special. We went to Tarboro and picked up the table and chairs. They were old and beautiful... but needed some lovin'. The table was covered in scratches and the chair fabric was dirty and outdated. Here are the before pics:

We found the fabric at Printer's Alley in Raleigh. I wish I could take credit for the amazing re-finishing job, but I am a PA student, I don't have much any free time. Husband offered to do it, but I really didn't want his first time refinishing something to be on such a special piece of furniture in case something went wrong. So we paid someone. And boy am I glad we did!

Our dining room feels so much more "homey". Still have a lot of work but I think this is my new favorite part of our new house. I see a piece of my Mama every time I walk in the door.

Xoxo
