Thoughts on one-piece swimsuits

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Every year I am closer and closer to switching over to the one-piece side. I told my husband that I cannot wait to be pregnant so that I have an excuse to wear one-pieces. This is true. He was less than thrilled. However, I honestly think that the right one-piece is so much more flattering and sexy than any two-piece. I don't think I will be making the plunge this summer, but here is what I have my eyes on for next summer:

bathing suits

What are your thoughts on one-pieces? When is the "right time" to make the switch to one-pieces? Where are the best places to buy reasonably priced yet nice quality suits?

Packing for Key West!

Monday, April 20, 2015

I leave for Key West in 9 days! I am so pumped for a long weekend of sun, sand, crystal blue oceans, and fruity drinks! This is what will be in my beach bag:

Key West essentials

1. I recently got the cutest fedora at Monkees in my hometown. I can't wait to wear it all weekend and keep the hot sunshine off my face. Stay away wrinkles!
2. Tory Burch sunglasses. I am currently swooning over these aviators. I don't have these exact pair but I do have a different pair of TB sunglasses that will be in my bag! I love her sunglasses. My next splurge will definitely be these shades.
3. Neutrogena sunscreen. My face is super sensitive and I have always dreaded putting sunscreen on it until I found Neutrogena sunscreen. It is oil-free, rubs in easily, and doesn't leave me with breakouts the next day.
4. Cover-up from Victoria Secret. I bought it before my honeymoon and love how light-weight and flowy it is. The last thing I want when I am sweaty and sandy is a hot cover-up that sticks to me. This is just the opposite!
5. Tory Burch rubber sandals. These shoes are the BEST. They are perfect for the beach and sand. Am I the only one that used to wear Rainbow sandals and after rinsing off my feet I was left with brown, nasty stained feet? Solution: TB rubber sandals!

What are your favorite beach essentials?!

Five on Friday: stocking stuffers for men!

Friday, November 21, 2014

This Christmas, hubs and I have decided to just do stockings for each other. We both have Fall/Winter birthdays and our anniversary is December 28th so we don't need to spend a lot of money on Christmas presents. I have been thinking for the past few months about things that my husband would really love in his stocking. Since we aren't doing presents, I wanted to fill his stocking with thoughtful gifts, not just candy. Here is what I have come up with so far:

men X-mas

1. Tovolo ice mold. A few months ago when hubs and I were in Charleston we went to an amazing restaurant and his whiskey drink had a huge ice cube in it. He LOVED it. The next day we were in J. Crew and they were selling the exact ice cube molds!! When hubs was in the dressing room I bought it and slipped that bad boy in my pocket book and have been hiding it ever since. It melts super slow so it doesn't water down the whiskey... and it makes you feel extra fancy ;) If your man is a whiskey drinker, I guarantee he will LOVE this in his stocking!

2. Ted Baker socks. My hubs looooves these socks! He loves to add a funky touch when dressing up in a suit. He already has a handful of patterns but I got him some new fun patterns that I know he will love. They are $15 or 3 pairs for $40 at Nordstrom with FREE shipping! Get them!

3. Meat thermometer. My man loves to cook, grill, etc. but he doesn't have a meat thermometer. I think he would love this in order to get meat to the perfect temperature without over-cooking it. My in-laws have one and he always uses it when we go home!

4. Beats earbuds. They are expensive for earbuds, I know, I knowwww. But your man will love you if he finds these in his stocking. I got these for G for our 3 year anni and he uses the heck out of them... at the gym, at work, at home, etc. They play music SO clear, stay in your ears when exercising, and are so much better than any earbud I have ever tried.

5. Monogrammed flask. Just the other day he was saying he needs a flask for football games, wedding, etc. [do not judge us]. Then I found this gem on Pottery Barn, on sale for $20 which INCLUDES a monogram!

Guys are HARD to shop for! I hope these things give you ideas for the man in your life! What are you filling you man's stocking with??

My favorite things link-up!

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Let's get this straight, I would NEVER ask for all of these gifts! To be honest, I don't really need anything for Christmas. I would be perfectly content opening one present and giving presents to all my family. There is nothing better than giving someone the perfect gift and watching their reaction and happiness. However, these are a few things I would be super happy with if Santa placed them under our tree ;)

christmas wish list

1. Tory Burch clutch. I have this beauty in black and I use it all.the.time. Totally worth the money. It has a long strap so you can wear it as a cross-body bag or you can take the strap off and use it as a clutch. I would LOVE a brown/tan one!

2. Nespresso coffee & expresso maker. Hubs and I are coffee lovers snobs and we have been talking about getting one of these for a while. The second my alarm goes off in the morning I head straight for the coffee maker. I feel like this expresso maker might make me a more happy person in the morning ;) Has anyone tried one?! Is it worth the money??

3. Kendra Scott earrings. As I mentioned in a previous post, I got a pair of these in hot pink a few months back and got SO many compliments on them. I am dying for another pair!

4. Kate Spade watch. I really need a neutral, everyday watch to wear during clinicals next year. I'm thinking this one would be perfect!

5. Moscow Mule Copper Mugs. I had my first Moscow Mule in Charleston a few months ago and fell in love. These mugs are so fun and can be used for so many different, fun cocktails.

6. Kendra Scott Rayne necklace. May or may not be obsessed with this jewelry [obviously]. I want a necklace too!! It would go with EVERYTHING!

7. Clarisonic skin cleanser. I have heard amazing things and to be honest, I need to take better care of my skin. All I do is wash my face 2x a day and apply Oil of Olay lotion. I feel like I need to clean it better. Any advice about this product?!

8. Gold Aviator Tory Burch sunglasses. I only buy one nice pair of sunglasses every 2 or 3 years and it's about time for a new pair! I have never had aviators but always love them when I see them on other people.

What are you hoping Santa brings you this year?!

Five on Friday: Birthday edition!

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Happy Friday!! My birthday is 3 weeks from today so I decided to post on what I have been birthday-lusting over:

boots

[1]
A new pair of boots. I may or may not have a slight obsession with Frye boots. Yes, they are ridiculously expensive, but worth every penny. They are super nice leather and stay in great shape for many years. I'm wanting either gray/taupe or black this year. I would be thrilled with any of these 3 pairs!

Bobbi brown

[2]
New additions to my make-up bag. I don't like to try new products, and I'm not big into make-up, so when my sister-in-law convinced me to try Bobbi Brown, I loved and hated her at the same time. My face loved her, but my wallet hated her. This make-up is SO great, but I rarely splurge on new colors because of the price. I have been dying to try the gel eyeliner and add some new blush colors to my winter make-up collection.

Kendra scott

[3]
Kendra scott earrings. I don't wear earrings much, I'm more of a necklace girl, but earrings are coming back into style big time. I splurged on Kendra Scott hot pink earrings a few weeks ago to wear to a wedding, and got SO many compliments on them. I would love to add another pair to my wardrobe, either a neutral to wear with everyday outfits or another funky fun color.

TB flats

[4]
Tory Burch flats. Duh. I wear the soles off my TB flats, literally. I am leaning towards the cream because the soles are starting to peel off my other pair of brown TB flats that I've had for about 4 years. How fun are the leopard print flats?! I love them but have a hard time spending so much money on a pair of shoes that you can't wear with everything.

[5]
Stella and Dot engravable bar necklace. I am dying for one with our anniversary on it. So cute!

Mother's Day

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I don't know about you, but my mom deserves more than just 1 day a year. She does everything for me and my sisters. She is supermom. Every mom deserves to be spoiled every now and then! Here are some ideas of what to get her for Mother's Day this year:

mothers day
1. All ladies love/need a good statement necklace. My family loooves necklaces. We are always borrowing each others! Mom would love this one!

2. Cute little plaque for a nook in the house. I love that quote.

3. You can't go wrong with anything from Tory Burch. These sandals are the cutest with summer right around the corner.

4. This TB hand-held wallet would be perfect for going out to dinner. The perfect size for your  phone and card/cash.

5. A delicious candle. I am literally a candle freak. Especially Anthropologie candles. Holy cow we have like 10 in our house. Not only do they smell amazing but they look gorgeous. Any lady would love this nice candle as a gift!

6. A new beach umbrella! Since we basically live at the beach all summer, our umbrellas get rusty and worn down.

7. An adorable coffee mug. If your mom is anything like mine [and me], a day doesn't begin until coffee is in hand. And a cute mug just starts your day on a happy note! Anthropologie has SO many cute ones to choose from.
