With our 2nd anniversary in just 2 weeks (!!), I have been thinking about what to get hubs. We are going to Antigua for our anniversary but I still want to give him a little something. These are the traditional anniversary gifts:
1st anni-- paper
2nd anni-- cotton
3rd anni-- leather
4th anni-- fruit/flowers
5th anni-- wood
For our first anniversary, G followed the rules and got me the most amazing gift I've ever received: a painting of my wedding gown. And the fact that he came up with the idea and found someone to do it all by himself made it even better! Gosh, he is just the absolute best. We got it framed and it now hangs in our living room.
You will LOVE Antigua! We stayed at that same exact resort on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it; we always talk about when we're going back. (Be sure to get the banana sip sops by the pool…they're excellent!) And that first anniversary gift is precious. What a sweet husband! Unfortunately, we have never followed the "traditional" gift-giving guide and instead have gone on a vacation every year (except the year we bought our house) so I'm zero help in that department. :/ Good luck! And have fun!
ReplyDeleteThat painting of your wedding dress is gorgeous! I can't believe he thought of that all on his own! We didn't do traditional presents so I'm not much help here but Antigua is going to be amazing! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteWow! That painting is gorgeous!! Do you know anything about who did it?? I might like to do something like that for my mom. Love that you guys are getting a much deserved break in Antigua!!! Drawing a blank for cotton - will keep thinking!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the most beautiful idea-a painting of your gown! So precious!
ReplyDeletethat dress picture is amazing!! i am not married so no help but that trip sounds like a present enough for me :)

That is a GREAT gift!! Go him! What an amazing and awesome memory to have!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing gift, that dress is gorgeous on the picture. Your trip sounds fabulous, too!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it might be super exciting but what about upgrading your sheets? Grab some 800/1000 count for a super soft and luxurious sleep.
With your upcoming trip in mind, I would suggest some new travel toiletry bags. I just recently purchased some from pottery barn for my husband this year for our two year anni. I had them monogrammed for him, which gave it a nice, personal touch.
ReplyDeleteGirl... that painting is amazing!! I might need to give little *hint hint* to Ryan. And Antigua sounds amazing. And I have absolutely no advice when it comes to cotton... can't wait to see what you come up with!

Oh my goodness!! He hit it out of the park with your 1st anniversary gift!!! We're the worst with these gifts especially since we had pretty strict budgets the last 2 years. I already told Stephen we're having bigger budgets for years 3 - leather ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible gift! That's so sweet & thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, G did good!! This is such a thoughtful gift and fun way to go along with the first year paper theme.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, the painting is SO neat! Your dress was absolutely gorgeous and I love how he incorporated the traditional gift of paper. Maybe some sort of quilt, bedding or pillows would be nice? Something that could be a keepsake? No clue, cotton is a hard one!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing anniversary gift your hubby gifted you for your 1st anniversary! That's very original and will last a lifetime!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing gift! Such a sweet thought and something you will always treasure.
ReplyDeleteLOVE his thoughtfulness! Cotton is a tough one (We did traditional the first year but I'm not sure we'll stick with it) but maybe a sports pillow?! You can get custom man cave pillows too - I got one for Derek a couple Christmases ago.
ReplyDeleteOh! The sports pillow comment makes me think - a blanket made of memorable tshirts from the two of you! UNC, 5Ks you've done together, etc etc.
ReplyDeleteummmm I LOVE that piece of art! Excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteOH MY! What a beautiful, beautiful gift! Love that! I'll brainstorm cotton and text you! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
ReplyDeleteLove, Love, Love that painting! He did such a great job! Xo, Stephanie
