10 Things About Me

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Today I'm linking up with Karli for 10 on Tuesday! Since I have some new readers, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to tell you guys 10 super random facts about myself. Enjoy!

+++

1 // I have lived in NC my entire life. Born in Chapel Hill while my dad was in orthodontic school, we moved to Greenville when I was 2 and I have lived here ever since.

2 // I have a small tattoo on my hip. It says "believe" and I got it on my 18th birthday. I was going through a rough time and wanted to constant reminder to always believe in Him and His promises! I always forget I have it until I pull my pants down to go to the bathroom :)

3 // I was captain of my volleyball team my senior year of high school and we won the 4A state championship. First ever female state championship at my high school!

4 // I was the first person in the state of NC to have the Swine Flu. It was hell. We had to report it to the Health Department and I felt like a freak of nature.

5 // I'm 5'8". I never really feel tall because my husband is 6'5" so he makes me feel short.

6 // I am the middle child between 2 sisters and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Everywhere we go people ask if me and my older sister are twins. Nope, she's 3 years older than me!

7 // I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill (go tarheels!) with an Exercise and Sport Science degree. Worked out perfectly since I'm now an orthopedic PA!

8 // I drive a Tahoe and will never drive anything smaller. When I ride in small cars now I feel like my butt is literally on the street. Makes me so carsick!

9 // I am almost legally blind. I've had glasses/contacts since 4th grade and every 6 months my prescription gets worse. Without my glasses or contacts in I can't see the alarm clock, can't read my phone, would have no idea who my husband was even if he was sitting right beside me. I look like a crazy person holding my phone an inch from my face to read messages. And I hardly ever wear my glasses because I'm so blind that they give me a headache!

10 // I'm a huge introvert. Don't get me wrong, I adore my friends and love going out for a drink or a birthday party every now and then. But if I had to choose, my happy place is home. Small talk is exhausting! I re-fuel my energy tank by spending time alone.

  1. Ugh I had swine flu too so I know what you mean about feeling like a freak of nature. So embarrassing and also sucky! And yes to being an introvert! I usually only go out and do something like once or twice a week. I just love being at home and relaxing! I don't even like going out to dinner that much. <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  2. I'm linking up with Karli today, too! Fun new linkup, right? This is a great way to learn about you. I can't believe you had swine flu, wow! I'm much more introverted than people think, not someone who HAS to have plans with friends all the time. It's a nice balance. You go awesome volleyball girl!

  3. I played volleyball and was a co-captain on my team in HS as well--we didn't win any championships tho. And I'm legally blind without my contacts or glasses, too. We can be blind bats together :)

  8. I loved this read! I was so blind as well and finally met a Doc who did two different procedures in order for me to get Lasix. It was such a process but so worth it. Your man is 6'5? Add another reason why he's the ultimate ;-) My next car will definitely be an SUV, I love those Tahoes!

  9. Woohoo! Go Tar Heels! I loved this post. I agree that I wouldn't have guessed that you are 5'8". YAY for introverts. Jess at Just Jess

  10. Fellow introvert over here! Home on the couch is the best. I would love to be 5'8! Well, I'd settle for anything over 5'5.

  11. How Fun! Seriously, more and more I just love being home! I'm sure not cool to you but how interesting you were first in the whole state with Swine Flu - that's crazy!

  12. You have a claim to fame with the swine flu haha I am one of 3 girls too, but I'm the youngest. People think my oldest sister is the youngest because she's the shortest. I got glasses in 3rd grade and contacts in 5th grade. I don't think I'm as blind as you, but I can definitely relate! I'm a hard core introvert too. My alone time is priceless.

  13. I did a post like this today also! I am totally with you on driving a tahoe and home being my happy place. I wanted to go into orthopedics also but decided to go a different route. Loved getting to know more about you! -Leah Chasing Texas

  14. I have 2 tattoos, one behind my ear and one on my shoulder blade. I can't see them, and completely forget they exist. I never wear my hair up, and finally did last week. A friend asked what the tattoo was behind my ear and I just stared at him blankly for about 30 seconds before I remembered I do actually have a tattoo behind my ear.

I really want a lot of daughters because I think sisters are so special and I always wish I had one or two or five.

I drive a Toyota Yaris and when I ride in an SUV I get carsick! That could be because it's usually my husband's SUV and he's a terrible driver...

  15. Oh boy - I completely understand number 9! I have worn glasses since I can't remember and my eyes just keep getting more terrible. My glasses are so thick they look like Coke bottles and if I have to wear them longer than a few hours, I'm in trouble!

I love your blog - so sweet and encouraging!

  19. Wow I learned so much!! Love these posts! I am so with you on the introvert - it's exhausting carrying on small talk, especially with people you don't know well. I feel like we're such hermits because we love hanging out at home!

  22. How scary about the swine flu! When that was going around I was pregnant and working at the hospital cleaning emergency rooms -- I left that job because I was so nervous about it. I am currently hoping to trade in my Honda Accord for a Toyota 4Runner! I am really wanting to get a bigger vehicle!

  24. I had the swine flu several years ago! It was awful :( I was teaching at the time, and one day I came in and my typical class of 12 had 4 students. That's when I was SURE I was going to get it, and I did.

  25. I am pretty proud of myself because I knew most of this about you, except for the legally blind part! I'm right there with you and that's why I hate wearing my glasses out in public, too! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
