Coffee talk

If we were having coffee I'd tell you...

-It's amazing how your body adjusts to lack of sleep after having a baby. Honestly, this was my #1 fear when I got pregnant... how I was going to function on less than 8 solid hours of sleep. Ha! God started preparing me for this during pregnancy because I had insomnia and woke up 345728 times a night. I'm actually thankful I slept awful during pregnancy because it wasn't such a shock after Vivi was born. Don't get me wrong, I was tired as crap those first few weeks running on 2 hours of sleep but now waking up a few times a night doesn't phase me.

-When I was at my in-laws last weekend I clipped so many hydrangeas from their bushes and brought them home with me. I am so in love with having fresh flowers in our house! In my dream home I will have a backyard filled with rose bushes, peony bushes, hydrangeas, you name it.

-I really need to get back into the gym, both mentally and physically. I love spin classes and lifting weights and have only been a handful of times since the baby was born. She is still too young to go to the gym nursery and I don't want to leave her with a babysitter on my days off to go to the gym. I miss her too much! Is that crazy? I'd totally rather be spending time with her than going to the gym. I need to find some sort of balance. I think it will be easier for me to get my butt there once she can go to the gym nursery.

-This is the first season I haven't watched the Bachelorette. Something about the way the guys were acting just did not interest me at all. I feel like all the guys are just trying to become famous so they act ridiculous just so they can be on GMA, Bachelor in Paradise, etc.

-I am struggling to come up with different dinner ideas. My husband eats super clean (and I try to...) so we eat healthy dinners. If it were up to him we'd have grilled chicken and steamed broccoli every night (insert eye roll emoji). He isn't really a fan of pasta, casseroles, etc. so it makes cooking really hard. I feel like all healthy recipes are boring and have no taste. Anyone have any good dinner recipes I can try?! Send them my way please!

  1. I have to say there are some really great guys on the Bachelorette this season - I think she's actually letting the crazy ones go without caring about ratings and she is just so real!! Have you made zoodles yet? I get the precut ones from trader joes and add some ground turkey with pasta sauce and bam - you get a healthy dinner that tastes like pasta! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. Yes to all of this! I'm so into fresh flowers! We have huge hundrageas on our porch right now and I'm torn on cutting them or staring st them through the window. You will figure out your groove with working out. For me, my babies cried in the gym nursery so it was easier for me to find a sitter to come so I could workout and go to the grocery/run any errands I needed to do. That was so good for my mentality and I needed the break. But I also didn't start that until they were 6 months old (unless my MIL kept them). Agree on the bachelorette.. I've always watched but for some reason I'm just not interested. I also can't stand the 2 hour episodes... who has time to sit there and watch that. I've got too many other shows I need to cram into naptime hahah. As far as clean dinner.. I'm no help. I struggle as well. However, follow my sister on fb. She's a beachbody coach and posts tons of healthy and clean recipes! @ellenludwigfitness. Ok sorry for the mile long comment!!

  3. We have hydrangeas and peonies sitting on our table right now from our backyard! My daughter loves picking them and putting them in a vase. Have you looked into stroller strides? It's big here and I've always wanted to do it. When my son was old enough for the gym I never made it through a workout bc they always came to get me from him crying :(. There's a good veggie fried quinoa online that we make that's clean :)

  9. I'm with you on every one of those flowers! Love fresh ones in my kitchen! I'm also with you on the Bachelorette - I'm still watching but I'm sooo bored. I just shared a fun summer dinner pin because in today's post I'm struggling with dinner options too!

  10. Fresh flowers are the BEST! I'm especially loving peony season right now - I grabbed a huge bunch of them at the farmers market over the weekend for only $6! As for recipes: check out salmon with avocado salsa by the Cookie Rookie and Skinny Taste one pan greek chicken! Two of our faves!

  11. I'm in the same gym spot - I work 6a-3p, and when I come home, I just want to be with my girl! Even the thought of leaving her at the gym nursery feels like too much right now. I'm with you - I need the balance and I MISS that "me time," both mentally and physically. It's one of the first times in my life when I've really felt that whole "There aren't enough hours in the day" and it's REAL ha.

  12. Hydrangeas are one of my faves, I was given a bush by some dear friends and love the pink in the backyard. Maybe do some workouts at home while she sleeps? There are a great many you can find on youtube or maybe Join Les Mills on Demand.

  13. Look up crockpot recipes on pinterest--I bet there would be a ton that your husband would eat! Also, I think you're right about a lot of The Bachelorette contestants this season. MOST of them seem pretty normal, but you can tell the ones that just want to be on Paradise. Should make the BIP season interesting though!

  14. Not impressed with The Bachelorette either but I'm a diehard fan and can't give it up just yet!

  15. I'm trying to find healthy meal options too. I suggest looking at Diabetic Cookbooks; they give you a variety of foods but they're still pretty clean/healthy eating. that's what I do!

I'm glad the sleep deprivation isn't driving you too nuts! I'd worry about that too. haha

  16. I kind of feel like Nick's season messed with that show..I have barely heard anyone even talk about this season. Should have kept Luke while they had him ;-) With my boys I lived for going on walks/runs with them. It was so great for getting in a workout while not leaving their side!

  17. I'm making myself watch The Bachelorette this season even though I'd rather skip it. I like Rachel so I'm just going keep trudging through it haha! And there was a girl in my town who would bring her baby to the gym after she got the okay to workout and would just keep him in his carseat and move him around with her. It was interesting to watch at first, but props to her for getting her workouts in!

  18. I wasn't very impressed the first night of the Bachelorette but it's definitely gotten better. There are a few guys I really like that she seems to click with already. She's definitely been letting go of the ones who are obnoxious & don't seem there for the right reasons!

  20. Hello!

I really love sushi and burrito bowls, they can be customized to each person's needs (e.g. you can add cheese to your burrito bowl and your husband can leave it off!)

  21. I love that your number one fear of having a baby and mine are the same! ha! I just said to Eric the other day that I'm so nervous about sleep when we have a baby!

This is one of my favorites (and the easiest) crockpot recipe: http://stephanie-spring.com/autumn-roast/

I also love this one: http://stephanie-spring.com/fish-tacos-ah-mazing-sauce/

  22. Ugh. If you find recipes, please share them. I've been struggling with this for months, too. I try to stay on the clean train, but it's SO hard without any recipes. I'm glad to hear that your body is adjusting to the sleep schedule though - that's terrifying to me as well!

  23. oh, i tooootally feel you on the dinner thing!!! we eat mostly some combo of chicken, squash, quinoa, rice, broccoli, applesauce and the ONE pasta my husband enjoys on his super clean diet is the jovial gluten free [which i approve, as a half italian girl who NEEDS pasta]. the kiddos and i are not as strict, but it sounds like we're like you... mostly clean but we have fun, too. ;) bottom line: dinner is soooo boring! haha!
