Waiting on God

Thursday, January 14, 2016

It's no secret that I struggle daily with patience. I'm not good at waiting. I like things to be done now, the second I make the decision, as in yesterday.

It seems like we are always "waiting" for something… a boyfriend, a proposal, a dream job, graduation, a baby, a promotion. When I saw this quote a few days ago it punched me right in the gut. I'm pretty sure it was made for me. You see, I've been struggling lately with waiting on God. I know His plan is the best plan, but sometimes I wonder why He can't just hurry up a little.

After reading this quote I took a step back and decided to truly embrace this season of "waiting". Whatever it is you are waiting for, I pray that we find patience and trust that His timing is the best timing. I pray that I can be happy and content in the "now" instead of when I have a bigger house, when I make more money, when I have a baby, when I make more friends, when I lose 10 lbs, when my closet looks like Pinterest, etc. etc. Let's make the best of today, because we aren't promised tomorrow!

"Those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and now grow tired. They will walk and not faint." -Isaiah 40:31

"He has made everything beautiful in its time." -Ecclesiastes 3:11

  1. So true girl! It's so hard not to wait for something else or something better to come along but being appreciative of what we have now and living in the moment is so important! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  4. So true, so true, lady! When you get worried 'waiting for the next stage' you miss how beautiful a stage you are in at the moment. God's time will happen when it should, we all just need to embrace it!

  5. I have been feeling the same way lately! What has been keeping me sane and reminding me to turn to the Word is Lara Casey's periscopes on Powersheets and her reminder that when we plant seeds, they do a lot of ripening and growing in the darkness of the soil. They even break their shell before they even reach through the soil. So I keep praying for lots of growth and patience in this time of His waiting.

  7. Amen!!! It's SO HARD to wait but the Lord's plans are always better than ours. When looking back at our periods of waiting, He has always provided and I couldn't have been more thankful that His timing came through and not my own. Keep your eyes on God and He'll satisfy your every need (even if it's a little later than you thought)

  10. This definitely strikes close to home for me girl. As I have realtor.com up and I'm pouring over houses thinking about that next step. Every time we try to have control and force things to happen that reminder of being patient and having faith reminds us right?

  11. I am in the exact same boat! It's frustrating to be waiting knowing what we want to do but we often don't realize the gift in waiting on God's timing. This definitely hit home and was something I needed to hear. :)

  15. This is something I struggle with too. I take such comfort in knowing that He has a perfect plan for me, but sometimes I can't help myself from asking "what's next?" or "how will this turn out?" I'm not supposed to ask, I'm supposed to have faith, and this little reminder was right on time!
