FoF: stationary, massages, and presents!

Friday, September 4, 2015

Happy Friday ladies! I'm currently en route to my happy place (the beach) for a long weekend with my family. Just what the doctor ordered! Keep up with me on snapchat @owen_ross! Let's get right into my 5 for the week:

[O N E]
I'm not one to complain much, after all, what's the point? But I have to be real with you guys and say that this week sucked. It was draining physically, emotionally, and mentally. To the point where I was questioning my love for medicine and wanting to go into this field. People can be so mean and me being the people pleaser that I am, I take everything personally. Not everyone is going to like you, they just aren't. Luckily my mom and husband talked me out of dropping out of PA school to be a stay-at-home dog mom.

After my week mentioned above, I got home from my 12 hour shift and found a present on my front steps. Inside was this beauty. My momma sure knows how to cheer me up!

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. G and I made a donation to a local charity that supports children fighting cancer and got this gold bow on our mailbox to show our support. Later this month I am teaming up with Headbands of Hope to spread awareness for childhood cancer and GIVE AWAY one of their gorgeous headbands!! Be on the lookout!

After all the stress I've been under lately, my upper back and neck have been killing me. I have knots on knots in my back. Sometimes I can beg convince my husband to rub my back but this time it just wasn't cutting it. Yesterday I treated myself to a massage and it was heavenly. I think every female should be entitled to a massage once a month for our sanity.

I've been wanting some plain stationary for when I need to send something in the mail or write a quick note to a friend. So of course I head over to Minted because as you already know from previous posts, I am slightly obsessed with all their products. I received my stationary in the mail this week and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Simple, crisp, and of course I will never get tired of seeing my new monogram.

  5. Girl i have totally had the same feeling that you've had this week. People ARE mean, and sometimes they have too much time on their hands so they spend it being rude and creating their own self importance. Don't let those people steal the joy out of what you do. Totally been there, so I 100% get what you've been feeling!

  9. Enjoy the beach – I couldn’t be happier that this holiday weekend has finally started! I take everything SO personally too – it’s hard and I can only imagine how people treat you at the hospital – how nice would it be to be a stay at home dog mom?! Now that’s my dream job! I love having some monogram stationary around and I always use mine (more than I thought I would) – love your new one!

  19. I saw the quote on bloglovin...I used the same quote and wrote a post on Lose Your Self-Doubt and Sparkle. It will cheer you up. Massages, I am all for them. I've been going every 6 weeks for the last five years since I get knots too and massage is the only thing that can get rid of them. Regularly going keeps them away. Rest and relax this weekend.

  20. The medical world is not easy--my husband worked as an ICU nurse for 5 years and is currently enjoying a much lower-stress career as an ESL teacher. If you're not careful, it's definitely easy to burn out--it sounds like you're making sure to get some balance in your life!

  21. Couldn't agree more on the monthly massages! I'm sorry work has been so stressful! The medical field needs more compassionate people like you, so please hang in there! Enjoy beaching this weekend!!

  25. I am so sorry that you had a tough week, you are going to be the greatest PA though and any of your patients will be thankful to have you care for them. Oh my goodness, Headbands for Hope is one of my favorite organizations! Xo, Stephanie

  26. I am glad that you enjoyed a much deserved trip to the beach. It is also nice to see that you have family and friends who are willing to support your dream to become a PA, even when times get rough. A little retail therapy always does the trick! Dealing with negativity builds resilience, especially for those involved in the medical field.
