Weekending: surprise birthday party

Monday, July 27, 2015

I never got a chance to recap last weekend, when we went to Raleigh for my SIL's 30th birthday. I had been planning a surprise party for her for MONTHS so I was super anxious to get there!

We headed to Raleigh after work Friday night and went straight to dinner. We chose pizza and I am sooo glad we did. Our pizzas were SO yummy, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! We got a s'mores pizza for dessert which looked better than it tasted, but it wasn't bad. After dinner it was back to my SIL's to watch a movie and head to bed.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early to take advantage of our day. We had been wanting to try Defy Gravity for a while and finally got around to it. It's a huge open room with trampolines everywhere. Y'all, it was a WORKOUT. I mean, I was dripping sweat 5 minutes after we got there. It was such a blast!

We grabbed lunch and did some shopping, then headed back to shower and get ready. We told my SIL we were going to have drinks and appetizers with our cousins in town later that afternoon. Side note: when we told her we wanted to do this, she replied "I honestly don't really want to", which resulted in me having a heart attack and freaking out, thinking we weren't going to be able to get her to her own surprise party. After some threatening convincing, we headed to the party and she was SO SURPRISED. It was the best!!

My SIL, cousins, and niece… love my family!

My niece is OBSESSED with my SIL… it melts my heart!

After the party, we headed downtown to the Pit for dinner. We sat outside and had delicious drinks while we waited to be sat. The drinks and company were A+, the food was B-. My sides were yummy but my ribs were less than average. A little dry and tough, which was disappointing.

It was such a great weekend and I am super thankful for my SIL. I couldn't have hand-picked a better one! Happy 30th, Jill!

  7. Okay, where is that pizza from? Being from eastern NC, I am snob about BBQ, and have never really loved the Pit. What a sweet surprise you planned for her! xoxo
